Privacy Policy

We regard your privacy as being hugely important and valuable to you.

Collection of information

In order to provide the best service to you, we collect personal information from you when you request our goods or services, when we deliver and collect equipment, when we pick up and drop you off, when you provide us with your payment details, if equipment is damaged or reported lost or stolen, and when you incur charges.

We may take photographs of equipment when it is collected, delivered and returned, and may operate CCTV cameras at our premises which may include images of you and others with you.

We may also take a photo of you and/or a copy of your driver’s licence or other identification to confirm the information provided when you request our services.

We may also collect and store correspondence (including via the telephone, email, mail, fax or directly through our website email) from you, particularly in regard to sales, support and accounts.

Use and disclosure of information

We use your personal and general information for our legitimate interests and operations in providing vehicle travel services and equipment hire and sales, including processing payments and charges, debt recovery, fraud prevention, damage monitoring and reporting, responding to accidents and other incidents, insurance claims, and corresponding with you. Correspondence is recorded and used to provide service references, and to assist in our staff development.

We may need to disclose your personal information to our franchisees and agents, insurers, service providers (including online), authorities, police, and to your Card provider in the event you default on the payment of any money owing to us.

Any service provider to whom we disclose your personal information is prohibited from using that information for any purpose other than to provide the service. We do not share your personal information with third parties for unknown or unrelated purposes.

We may disclose your personal information as required by law and when we believe that it is necessary to protect our rights and/or comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process.

Marketing

We may use your personal information for marketing purposes. If at any time you wish opt out of receiving direct marketing from us, you may do so by emailing us at mark@preciouscargotasmania.com.au.

Security

The security of your personal information is important to us. When you enter sensitive information (such as credit card numbers) on our website, we encrypt it using secure socket layer technology (SSL). We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. We use the Square Payment Gateway for our online credit card transactions. As such, the payments are secure:

  • we cannot view and never permanently store your complete credit card number; and
  • Square is certified as meeting Level 1 of the PCI DSS compliance criteria, which is the highest level of compliance available and is the same level of data security as the biggest banks in the world.

Access to and correction of information

You have the right to access on request the personal information we hold about you, subject to certain exceptions. You can also ask us to correct that information.
